Seznam.cz Email is tightening its anti-spam policy. It is now adding the requirement of domain identification using DKIM

20. March 2015

The Seznam.cz Email service tightened its anti-spam policy from 1st April. All mass e-mails, which do not contain a valid digital DKIM signature, will automatically be rated as spam.

Nearly 80% of all messages directed towards e-mail boxes on Seznam.cz are unrequested mail. After the “E-mailing Code of Ethics” was recently published Seznam.cz reinforced its fight against unrequested mail by applying DKIM technology (DomainKeys Identified Mail). “A valid DKIM will consequently become an essential, but not the sole condition for successful delivery of mass e-mails and newsletters sent to Seznam.cz mail boxes. Additional anti-spam control mechanisms, the same as those applying to date, will naturally also be applied to messages with a valid digital signature,“ David Finger, Seznam.cz E-mail product manager describes. The absence of a DKIM digital signature may cause a rise in the number of mass e-mails and newsletters rated as spam even before the deadline of 1st April 2015. To minimise potential issues we therefore recommend that marketers begin using this technology as soon as possible.

As well as implementing DKIM technology, we would also like to recommend implementation of a simple SPF approval system (Sender Policy Framework). “Marketers should also remember our own Feedback loop tool, which helps increase the relevance of mass e-mail senders’ e-mail databases and direct their messages towards those boxes, which are actually interested in their contents,” Finger added.
